Have You Stopped to Consider How the Music You Listen to Shapes Reality?

It’s worthwhile to examine.

We know that we create with our words, right?

We use affirmations and mantras to alter our perception and experience of our realities.

How many of us, though, are paying attention to the music that we listen to and the messages therein?

It took me so long to see that the forlorn, moody music I was listening to was reflected in the experiences of my life.

Not long ago, I spent a few hours listening to some of the songs I loved when I was 9 or 10 years old. At that age, I was first discovering music via television video shows and mainstream radio stations. These are songs I hadn’t listened to in decades but still knew ALL the words and inflections to. Without any conscious effort they just rolled out of my mouth. I belted them out and I noticed the overlapping themes about failed relationships and the like. Heartbreak, loss, and unrequited love.

These tunes felt unpleasantly and uncomfortably speaking to my experiences of the past few years as an adult.

Of course, I didn’t know back then that we speak and create our reality. How could I but create the stories of the music?
